MSU @ Wisconsin Revisited. What Controversy?!
It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t pretty at times, but the Spartans get a much deserved road win in Madison 63-60.
Led by a combined 34 points from Green and Appling (Green - 18, Appling -16) MSU won its 14th straight game, moves to 3-0 in the Big Ten Conference, and most importantly, collected a win in Madison for the first time since 2001.
The first two quarters was your typical MSU - Wisconsin game. Great defense from both teams, strong rebounding, and a back-and-forth scoring matchup.
The real excitement didn’t pick up until the final 30 seconds of the first overtime period. Down 6, Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor buried a three-pointer to put the Badgers within one shot to tie. On the inbound pass, Draymod Green was sent to the free throw line where he missed both attempts. With the ball and one final shot to send the game into a second overtime, Taylor again shot the three seeking the tie. Missing his mark, the ball was quickly scooped out by Ryan Evans of the Badgers. Evans ran out to the three point line and chucked up a final shot which banked off the backboard and in.
